500g or 1kg · 100% pure Australian beeswax — hand-cleaned by Suz · No additives, no bleaches, no synthetic fragrance · Sourced from the Hunter Region, NSW · Custom quantities available — just get in touch

The same pure Australian beeswax I use in every hand-poured candle, now available in bulk. Sourced from the Hunter Region of NSW, hand-cleaned by Suz to remove all natural impurities, and ready to use straight away — no extra processing, no mess, no wasted time. Available in 500g for smaller projects or 1kg for larger ones.

Beeswax is a natural by-product of honey production — when bees build their honeycomb to store honey and raise their young, they produce beeswax to protect it. Naturally sourced beeswax contains pollens, plant particles, and other hive debris. I clean each batch by hand, ensuring every piece that leaves Port Stephens is pure, clean, and genuinely ready to use. The colour may vary from batch to batch depending on the season — a sign of quality, unbleached wax.

    Pure beeswax is perfect for:

    - Making your own candles
    - DIY beeswax food wraps
    - DIY lip balms and natural beauty products
    - Furniture polish and wood finishing
    - Surfboard wax
    - Wax seals
    - Art and craft projects including batik
    - Thread conditioning for sewing and bookbinding

    Why buy pre-cleaned beeswax?

Cleaning raw beeswax is a time-consuming process — it involves melting, filtering, and removing all the natural debris that comes with fresh hive wax. Suz does all of that work for you, so what arrives is genuinely clean, pure beeswax ready to use in your project straight away. No extra equipment, no mess, no wasted wax.

    Making the switch to natural

Pure beeswax is one of nature's most versatile materials — a natural, chemical-free, flexible waterproof barrier that can replace synthetic wax products in a huge range of applications around the home. From food wraps to furniture polish, it's a genuinely sustainable alternative to petroleum-based and synthetic wax products, reducing the need for chemicals and toxins in your home and daily life.

Which size is right for me?

The 500g is ideal for smaller projects or if you're trying beeswax for the first time. The 1kg is the better value option for larger projects or regular use. Need something smaller? My Beeswax Sticks (30g) are perfect for one-off or small craft projects.

    A note on skin sensitivities

Some people can have skin sensitivities to beeswax and bee by-products. If you have a known sensitivity to bee products, I'd recommend avoiding use on skin.

    Hours:

    NEVER LEAVE BURNING CANDLES UNATTENDED
Always stay within sight of a burning candle. Extinguish all candles before leaving the room or going to sleep. Never place a burning candle near curtains, fabric or other flammable materials.

ALWAYS BURN ON A SUITABLE SURFACE
Place your candle on a heat-proof plate or purpose-made candle holder before lighting. This protects your surfaces from heat and catches any wax if needed.

    WICK TRIMMING
Before each burn, trim your wick to 5–6mm. A well-trimmed wick keeps the flame steady, reduces a chance of smoke, and helps your candle burn evenly. If the wick develops a small mushroom-shaped tip, extinguish and trim it away before relighting.

    KEEP OUT OF DRAFTS
Suz E Bee Candles burn at their best in a still environment. Keep your candle away from open windows, fans, and air conditioning vents. A flickering flame isn't just distracting — it causes uneven burning, can cause dripping and shortens your candle's life.

    BURN TIME
Allow your Pillar candle to burn for at least two hours for its first burn — this prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn every time. As a general guide, allow at least one hour of burn time for every 2.5cm of your candle's diameter.

Allow your candle to cool and resolidify completely between burn sessions.

    TEA LIGHT CANDLES
Due to their design, Tea Light candles must always be burned in a Tea Light cup. Suz E Bee Candles Tea Lights are designed to burn in one complete session.

    VOTIVE CANDLES
Due to their fluted design, votive candles must always be burned in a specific votive holder. Votives are designed to liquefy fully as they burn, and a proper holder keeps all that beautiful melted wax contained. Allow your votive to burn for a minimum of 2 hours per session so the wax melts evenly to the edges — extinguishing too soon can cause tunnelling and leave wax clinging to the sides.

    EXTINGUISHING YOUR CANDLE
Dipping your wick is a far better way to put out a Suz E Bee candle. Blowing out a candle risks spattering hot wax, leaves a smoking wick, and sends that lingering burnt smell drifting through the room — right over the top of the lovely aroma your candle has been building.

Instead, use a wick dipper to gently push the wick down into the pool of molten wax to extinguish the flame, then straighten it back up. A purpose-made wick dipper is ideal, but the end of a pencil or wooden skewer works just as well. No wax splatter, just a tiny wisp of smoke — and your wick is perfectly primed and ready for next time.

    WICK STRAIGHTENING
Check that your wick is centred and upright before lighting. A leaning wick can cause uneven burning and wasted wax. Monitor whilst burning and straighten where needed. Straightening it while the wax is still warm and soft after extinguishing each time is good practice — it only takes a second.

    CANDLE END OF LIFE
Your candle should stop burning when approximately 1cm of wax remains at the base. Every Suz E Bee candle is designed this way intentionally — at this point the wick will extinguish itself naturally as it reaches the remaining wax.

    BEESWAX BLOOM
You may notice a powdery white or dusty film appear on the surface of your candle over time. This is called bloom, and it's completely natural — it's actually a sign of pure beeswax. Gently buff it away with a soft cloth if you prefer, or simply leave it. It won't affect how your candle burns.
